FAQs

  • Of course you want to understand the costs of a project before starting out.

We are able to give you an accurate quote for the architectural design stage once we fully understand the scope of the project. This happens after the discovery call, questionnaire and initial site visit. You are not in any sort of agreement with us until we give you a quote, you accept it, and you sign the contract. We can share with you that our design fees typically range from 10-15% of the overall construction cost.

For the construction and interior fit-out stages of your project, we are always mindful of the budget that has been set and so will create designs accordingly. We will work closely with you at all stages to bring about the best possible outcome for your property.

  • There is no one answer to this question. It very much depends on your project, what you are building, the challenges of the site, and how many of our services you are using. We will give you timelines at the information gathering stage of the project. We should advise you that we do not, and cannot, rush the design process. We design with intentionality, care, and authenticity. It is a process which takes time to get right. Likewise, our contractors are passionate craftspeople who never cut corners on the build.

  • We operate sustainably within the office with remote working, eco-friendly and low energy sources (we have had gas removed from our office), recycling as standard and green office supplies wherever possible. Our future plans include the installation of solar panels on our office roof to reduce our impact further.

In our work, we regularly keep up to date with the latest sustainable developments within design and construction. We have good connections with sustainable material suppliers, including building materials, recycled materials, energy sources, lighting solutions, and furniture. Additionally, we use sustainable design and building practices to have the lowest impact on the planet.

  • If you are undertaking a serious redesign of a space or building, including structural changes, it is strongly advised you work with a professional architect or designer to ensure safety.

Beyond securing safety for your building, a trained, qualified designer knows design. We are knowledgeable in ways to work with the natural grounds, the light, making the most of design opportunities or solving problems within the building. We can also deliberately create a space to make you feel a specific way, such as calm or energised.

Finally, you deserve to live and work in a beautiful space. And that beautiful space can only happen with the collaboration of architects, interior designers, and skilled craftspeople.

  • Yes absolutely! We will guide you through the paperwork when we come to that stage, and we will communicate clearly with you about what you need to do.

  • An architect designs buildings in accordance with the environment, the users’ needs, and the clients’ budget. You can only be called an ‘architect’ if you’ve achieved an Architect Registrations Board (ARB) accepted qualification, most often a degree in Architecture.

An architectural designer works in the same way as an architect, however, they will have different qualifications. These will either be in the form of degrees related to the built environment from architecture, interior design or interior architecture, architectural technologies and many others, or years of practical experience through the construction or project management industries They are skilled and experienced designers and can provide all the required services an architect does. This is something to discuss directly with Alex if you have any questions.

  • Yes we do! We design the grounds to your home or business ensuring a smooth transition between the interior and exterior spaces and work with skilled gardeners to create beautiful easily maintained planting to suit the orientation of your plot.

  • The short answer to this is: no, you don’t. If you just want us to design for you, but you choose your own building team, we can definitely make that work. Additionally, if you already have a design and are looking for a skilled, qualified and trustworthy construction team to realise it, then we can do that too.

However, something very special happens when there’s one clear vision, and one team bringing it to life. By using our whole project services, we cut down on errors, delays, and miscommunications. We are in control of more aspects of the project so we have more control of timelines and budget. We know our team inside out, and we know they are extremely hard working and reliable. We cannot vouch for others the way we can for our own teams.
